Amitabh Bachchan celebrates 40th year of his marriage with Jaya Bachchan

It has been a “lifetime” and Big B feels blessed to have such a family. The actors opted for a small wedding affair on this day 40 years ago, attended by only some close friends and family members. Big B recalled the evening as , "I had driven with my parents to a friends place on Malabar Hill, in the southern region of the city, and to a very quick, no fuss, no 'taam jhaam', family and a few friends, and a few close media, wedding."

Mr. Bachchan who co-starred with his spouse Jaya in films like Abhimaan, Chupke Chupke, Sholay, Silsila, Zanjeer, Mili, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and many more, added further, "A wedding that had the fulfillment of a promise, that ifZanjeersucceeded we would get married! Here we are now, two children and three grand children, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, relatives and 'samdhis' in our family fold. God has been very kind.” Big B thanked all his well-wishers on the occasion of his anniversary through his Twitter account. He posted, "To all those that wish us a happy anniversary... our gratitude and love and blessings and joy! Thank you.”
