Anurag Basu Upset Over Conditions Imposed By Kishore Kumar’s Family

It has been a long time since Anurag Basu announced of making a film on late legendary singer Kishore Kumar. The filmmaker has roped in Ranbir Kapoor to play the titular role. Anurag is waiting for approval from Kishore’s younger son Sumeet Kumar and wife Leena Chandavarkar as well as from his elder son, singer Amit Kumar.

According to sources, Anurag and Ranbir are not happy with the various conditions imposed by Kishore’s family. On behalf of the family, Amit made clear to Anurag that nothing would go into the film on his father, not even the songs, without his consent. However, Anurag has apparently agreed to all the conditions of Amit.

“Initially Anurag fought off Amit’s claims. But then matters came to such a head that it was either Kishore Kumar with Amit or no Kishore Kumar at all. So, Anurag has agreed to Amit’s conditions,” revealed a source.

Also, Anurag has to pay a hefty amount to buy rights for 30-35 Kishore Kumar songs from Sa Re Ga Ma (HMV) and the ones that will be used in the film will be selected by Amit, Sumeet and Leena. The biopic will be written by writer-director Somik Sen of Gulab Gang fame. Basu is keen to start the flick by the end of the year.
