Anushka Sharma Makes An Announcement About Her Next, Phillauri

If recently released Bollywood films are anything to go by, the only adage that holds true for them is that ‘content is king’. This year’s releases have further reinforced the fact that if a film has good content, it will work at the box office. After their latest release, the Sonam Kapoor-starrer Neerja, which is has garnered rave reviews, Fox Star Studios is gearing up with their next project that promises to pack a punch.

We have learnt that Fox has joined hands with Anushka Sharma’s production house, Clean Slate Films, for their next venture — Phillauri. Set in Punjab, the film will be directed by debutant Anshai Lal, and will star Anushka, actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh and actor Suraj Sharma, who featured in director Ang Lee’s Life Of Pi (2012), in a lead role.

Confirming the same, Anushka, who turned producer with the 2015 hit, NH10, says, “It took almost 100 years, a crazy Punjabi wedding and rank strangers to complete a love story; that, in a gist, is Phillauri. Now what takes 100 years? What could be the story? That you need to keep guessing.” She adds that the film will have a sprinkling of humour throughout. “It’s got tons of humour, fun and drama as its backdrop. We, at Clean Slate, are very excited about this co-production with Fox Star Studios, and promise an entertaining ride in the theatres to our audience,” she adds. Phillauri will go on the floors in April this year.
