    A. R. Rahman, in addition to gifting us with mesmerising music, he has always made his country proud. After winning Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire in 2009, the music genius has again joined the race for Oscars. A. R. Rahman has been nominated once again at the Academy Awards for his work on sports biopic Pele: Birth of a Legend. Rahman has found mention in both Best Original Score and Best Original Song long list of 89th Academy Awards.

    There are 145 scores contending for the award. On Tuesday, December 13, the lists were released by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on its official website. Final nominations are to be announced on January 24, while the awards will be presented later, on February 26.

    Directed and written by Jeff Zimbalist and Michael Zimbalist, Pele: Birth of a Legend, is a biographical film about the early life of Brazilian footballer Pelé and his relationship with his father. The film was released on May 6, 2016, in the US. The film has around 20 songs, each composed by A. R. Rahman.

    In addition to Slumdog Millionaire, the music composer also was received two short-listed nominations for Danny Boyle's 127 Hours.
