Bollywood star Aamir Khan, who is working on his upcoming film, Thugs of Hindostan, crooned one of his hits at an event in Mumbai and wife Kiran Rao joined in soon. At the trailer launch of Zaira Wasim’s Secret Superstar Wednesday afternoon, Aamir sang Aati Kya Khandala and wife Kiran, who was also present, joined in. The song is from Aamir’s 1998 hit Ghulam.

He also revealed that he gave a screen test for his part in Secret Superstar. Aamir plays Shakti Kumar, a music composer in the film. The actor’s look from the film had gone viral earlier. In fact, it was revealed at the launch that Kiran was not 100 per cent sure about Aamir playing this role as she thought it is a “little vulgar”. Just to give you an idea of what to expect, his opening line in the film is: “Thak gaya hu awards lete lete”.

Speaking about his last film that continues to create box office records and starred Zaira as his daughter, Aamir said, “I am very happy that people in China liked Dangal. So I hope all my movies get released there.”

Directed by Advait Chauhan, Secret Superstar is the story of a young girl (played by Zaira Wasim) who dreams of becoming a famous singer but her father is against the idea. How the girl achieves stardom without openly defying her father forms the crux of the story.

Aamir recently returned from a family holiday in Italy. He also completed the first schedule of Thugs of Hindostan. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, Thugs of Hindostan, which went on floors in May, also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Dangal fame Fatima Sana Sheikh.
