Baahubali 2 Smashes The Record Of Aamir Khan's Dangal At US Box Office

There’s no stopping SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion at the box office. The film is literally smashing records across the globe, with the latest being in the US where it has successfully surpassed the life-time earnings of Aamir Khan’s Dangal in just four days. As of Wednesday, Baahubali 2 minted $12.6 million (Rs 808,668,000 or Rs 80.8 crore) to become highest grossing Indian film in the US, surpassing $12.3 million (Rs 789,838,350 or Rs 78.9 crore) raked in by the Aamir Khan starrer which was based on the real life story of Phogat family.

In India, the film has already surpassed the opening weekend numbers of several Bollywood biggies such as Sultan and Dangal. Interestingly, it happens to be the first dubbed Hindi film to breach into the Rs 100 crore club. Baahubali 2 has broken the record of its own predecessor with the opening weekend numbers, much to the surprise of the makers who couldn’t quite make profits from the first part. In the south, the film is having a golden run. While it has raked in over Rs 100 crore from its opening weekend in Andhra and Telangana, it has put up an impressive show in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka with combined earnings of over Rs 100 crore from the first three days. According to trade pundits, audiences are thronging to cinemas more than once to watch Baahubali 2 and this has worked in the film’s favour big time.

With an estimated earnings of over Rs 600 crore from the first four days across four languages, the second part in the Baahubali franchise is said to have registered the biggest opening for an Indian film. Starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan, the film is produced by Arka Media Works.
