Baahubali 2: The Conclusion gets grand beginning in Chandigarh

There are many mysteries in life that are left unsolved, well, no worries, this isn’t about any of them. Couple of days back, I was sitting on my cushiony sofa, sipping coffee and rambling about the amount of work I am supposed to do when my cellphone pinged. But these days that’s normal, but what’s different was that the screen lit up and the e-mail notification read, “Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali?”

Curiosity got the better of me and I opened the e-mail, it was an enticing offer by PayTM to book the movie tickets and find out answer to the two-year old question. As if feeling jealous of my e-mail getting all the attention, the BookMyShow app sent me a similar offer’s notification for the same movie.

One thing led to another, and here I am with an initial response report of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion from Chandigarh.

    FIRST DAY FIRST SHOW: HOUSEFULL?

In tricity, the earliest show for the movie was at Fun Cinemas: Republic Mall and PVR: North Country Mall at 8am. And the occupancy rate was 96% and 65%, respectively.

The 8.30 am show at Cinepolis TDI Mall Jagat was 97% booked. PVR: North Country Mall Gold had only 20% seats sold out. The 9am show at Rajhans Cinemas, Panchkula and Carnival Paras Mall were 90% and 75% occupied, respectively. Wave: City Emporia Mall had its first show at 9.20am and it saw only 83% occupancy.

Piccadily Square and INOX: NH22 Mall, Amravati Enclave had the 9.30am first show that had 100% and 50% seats booked, respectively.

The 10am show at PVR: Elante, PVR: Centra and PVR: DT City Centra had 98%, 95% and 93% seats sold out, respectively. Looks like, tricty residents really are early birds.

    WHAT’S THE MAGNET?

“I have been asking so many people ‘Why Kattappa killed Baahubali?’ for the past two years, so I just had to watch the film as soon as possible to find the answer,” said 25-year-old Tanya Manchanda.

“I am a huge Prabhas fan and watch all his movies first day first show. So, there was no doubt that I will not break the tradition this time around, especially when the big mystery is to be revealed. In fact, it is my wedding anniversary today and my husband is not such a movie buff, so, I asked him to take care of the party and food arrangements while I watch Prabhas do all the stunts,” 55-year-old Sanyukta Venugopal said.

“People are calling us every minute to ask about ticket availability. All theatres in the tricity are 80% booked and we are hoping for ‘housefuls’ as the day progresses,” a PVR Cinema official, on condition of anonymity, said.

“The VFX team is that of Jurassic World and this is obvious right from the trailer. The movie is going to be a massive hit. Finally, we can say that we are at par with Hollywood’s VFX. I am definitely going to watch the movie again,” says 28-year-old ‘techie’ Manish Goyal.

“I am a student here, far away from home. So any South Indian movie is a welcome thing. It makes me feel closer to home. Also, Anushka Shetty is my favourite actor, so her movies are a must-watch. To top it all, director SS Rajamouli has revealed the mystery and promised a part three of the franchise — what more can we ask for?” said BPS Shyam, a Panjab University student.

I’ll sign off for now, and go buy the movie tickets now!

    AFTER WATCH VERDICT

“For me it’s a 5/5 plus 2 extra stars for the amazing VFX,” said Tanya. “5/5 for the movie, 10/5 for Prabhas,” said Sanyukta, as she clicked selfies with a poster of Baahubali.

“”It’s 4/5 for the movie, and 5/5 for the VFX,” stated Manish. “Oh my god! I never thought I will ever like any male actor as much, but Prabhas is just too good. I’m absolutely blown away. It’s definitely a 5/5 for me,” said Shyam.
