5 Bachchan-isms We Have All Imbibed Irrespective Of Age

Four decades ago, he could pulverise 10 baddies with one punch. Or even with a well-delivered dialogue (cue: Tum mera wahan intezaar kar rahe the…). Bollywood’s #AngryYoungMan may not be so young any more but boy, oh boy, that swag.

The generation which either wanted to be him or wanted him as the special someone in their lives is today well-rounded gramps and grannies but Mr Bachchan soldiers on. He was recently seen in Sarkar 3, and he will soon be seen in Thugs of Hindostan. Not to forget his smiling visage on billboards, advising you to buy a number of products.

How can you get that kind of public admiration and love, critical and box office success at this age? You can’t, unless you are Amitabh Bachchan .

At one point or another, we have all wanted to be him. Whether it was in the privacy of our bathrooms or in front of the mirror or at the request of our friends, we have done our own favourite Bachchan thing.

We bring you our five favourite Bachchan-isms that probably all Indians have tried one time or another. If you haven’t, we advise you to go online, check his best works and watch them. Again.

    1. ‘Hain’

This one needs no explanation and you need no excuse to do it. Just remember to fix that expression on your face and move your hand just so.

    2. That dance step

Amitabh has done it successfully. Other actors have tried it less successfully. And you have done it hilariously at weddings/birthday parties/dancing during and after drink parties. Hell, even Roger Federer and Pete Sampras have done it. Amitabh Bachchan dance step is a thing.

    3. Amitabh Bachchan’s dialogues

They are a legion. In fact, we would like to believe there is an Amitabh Bachchan dialogue for every moment in your life.

Romance: Kabhie kabhie mere dil mein...

Resume: Pura naam, Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, baap ka naam...

Get respect: Rishte mei to hum tumhare baap lagte hain, naam hai Shehenshah...

As we said, they are a legion.

    4. When you’ve had one too many

Amitabh Bachchan has done so many drunken scene that people actually make a top 10 list out of it. Whether it is the famous Anthony Gonsalves monologue from Amar Akbar Anthony or Iss Duniya mei do type ke keede from Hum, we have heard them, enacted them and made our friends do them.

    5. His swag

Feet on table, gun in his hand and a smouldering look in his eyes – Amitabh had attitude in oodles. From Don to Sarkar, he hasn’t lost any of his style. Remember that next time you try to walk like him. Or talk like him.
