Big B, Deepika and Irrfan Khan come together for Shoojit Sircar’s Piku

While Shoojit Sircar was in process of bringing Footballer Sibdas Bhaduri’s story to life along with John Abraham, we now hear the director is kicking off with his other project ‘Piku’ which features Mr. Bachchan, Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead.

MSM Motion Pictures in association with Saraswati Entertainment Creations Limited and Rising Sun Films are coming together to produce this venture and a lot of movement has started taking place owing to the hugeness of the project. While the Vicky Donor and Madras Cafe maker has worked with Big B in the still to release Shoebite and Amit Ji’s television fiction debut Yudh, he will work with Deepika for the first time. The film will have her playing Big B’s daughter. Both actors have shared the same equation in Prakash Jha’s Aarakshan. Talking about the project, Shoojit said “The charisma of Mr. Bachchan, seamless acting of Deepika with the versatile flair of Irrfan Khan and the evergreen Moushami Chaterjee will make ‘Piku’ an experience for me. I am looking forward to this fantastic opportunity of working together with such gifted talent from the industry,” while Sneha Rajani, the deputy president and Head at MSM Motion Pictures very candidly said “Working with Mr.Amitabh Bachchan yet again in my new role is an absolute honour. As for Shoojit, I have been an admirer of his work since ‘Yahaan’ and I am really looking forward to working with him and the delightful ensemble cast which includes the very talented Deepika, Irrfan and many others.” The makers told that “’Piku’ is a slice-of-life film, with a quirky take on things”. The film’s shooting is scheduled to begin in August and its release date set for April 2015.
