    This might as well not be such a bad idea as a biopic is being planned on Indian badminton icon P. Gopichand. Yes, according to reports, former Indian badminton captain Sanjay Sharma and his daughter Shachi are planning to take Gopichand’s story on screen.

    According to a report in Mumbai’s leading daily, Sanjay and Shachi had penned a book on Gopichand which they will now adapt for a full movie. The project is expected to go on the floors later this year and will be helmed by Rikhil Bahadur. No other details around the film have been finalised yet. The daily also quotes that Gopichand himself will closely be involved in the making of the film and will provide makers with necessary inputs.

    Shachi, who is co-writing the project told the leading daily “We've all read and heard so much about Prakash Padukone and more recently, Saina Nehwal. But not many are familiar with Gopichand's story, especially his struggles before he became a badminton star. It deserves a big-screen treatment.” Well, may be after a good solid performance by Mary Kom, Bhag Milkha Bhag, producers eye biopic as a fruitful prospect.
