B.O. Report: Dum Laga Ke Haisha outshines Ab Tak Chhappan 2 as strong word of mouth spreads

Such is the power of strong verdict when audiences get going in sync with the film. Yashraj’s Dum Laga Ke Haisha despite releasing on very less screens with limited promotions multiplied its figures over the weekend owing to the strong word of mouth it generated from all over.

The Sharat Kataria directed film opened to a very modest 1.11 crores but doubled its figure on Saturday (2.12 crores). The Sunday collections were also very encouraging as the film post a solid 2.85 crores. The Ayushmann Kurranna-Bhumi Pednekar starrer now stands with a collection of 6.08 crores. Considering all the conditions and resources it was released, the figures come in as a very inspiring feat for Yashraj. While Ayushmann’s last release Hawaizaada had a drastic reception to say the least, Dum Laga Ke Haisha would come in as respite.

On the other hand Nana Patekar starrer Ab Tak Chhappan 2 couldn’t really capitalise on the success of its predecessor. Released on a considerably high screen count, the film started poorly with some 1.2 crores on its opening day. The not so very encouraging reviews and verdict didn’t let the film go past the 5 crore mark and is not looking at a very healthy first week. It will be interesting to note how Dum Laga Ke Haisha holds on to the weekdays now.
