Bollywood actresses to come together for the cause of girl child

In a novel initiative to raise awareness for the girl child, a whole league of Bollywood actresses, both yesteryear and reigning stars, and some male celebrities are coming together to launch a video on the line of popular anthemMile Sur Mera Tumhara. Some of those who are expected to feature in the video are Sonakshi Sinha, Hema Malini, Raveena Tandon, Sushmita Sen, Shilpa Shetty, Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra and Nagarjuna.

The song, titledBetiyaan, has been scored by Nikhil Kamath and sung by Shankar Mahadevan and Sunidhi Chauhan whereas the video will be directed by ad man and filmmaker Rajeev Walia. Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra, who has already shot for his part said, “Killing of the girl child is a very serious issue. Not only are there rampant foeticides and abortions, when a girl child is born, a pall of gloom falls on the family. It is almost as if someone has died. It is not just me, but it should concern every citizen. This is our humble initiative to change the mindset that allows girls to be killed and tortured"
