    R.D. Burman or Pancham Da is such a name in the arena of music that cannot be forgotten ever. He lives with us everyday through his immense contribution to music, which sounds fresh every time we listen to it. Today let’s recall the iconic figure of the music world on his 74th birth anniversary.

    He was born to a musical family to the legendary music composer Sachin Dev Burman and his lyricist wife Meera Dev Burman in Calcutta. After staring his journey in Bollywood in 1961, he carried on with his music career for 33 years. His experimental nature and innovative outlook gave a new definition to the cinema songs. After rising to stardom with Teesri Manzil in 1966, he went on offering musical hits like Yaadon ki Baaraat, Padosan, Aradhana, Kati Patang, Sholay and so on. Music in Bollywood took a refreshing turn with his amazing musical novelties like Raat kali, the sensual cabaret number Piya tu ab toh aaja, Dum maro dum and the classical Raina beeti jaaye.

    His music was heard for the last time in 1942: A Love Story, which was released after his unfortunate death in 1994. But he is still the musical superstar, ruling millions of hearts and will remain the same forever. Today on his 74thbirthday a lot of Bollywood personalities paid their tributes to Pancham Da through Twitter. Farah Khan wished, “Happy birthday Pancham Da!” Aadesh Shrivastava recalled, “First film of Pancham Da, pure classical, ghar aaja ghir aai badra sanwariya from CHOTE NAWAB, brilliant composition. I'm lucky I worked with him.” Vishal Dadlani thanked the genius, “Happy Birthday, R.D. Burman. You're the man, forever! Thanks for all the music!!” We also wish our very own Pancham Da a very Happy Birthday and also want to say that you’ll always remain in our hearts.
