Boman couldn’t keep his promise, leaves Dia teary-eyed on her wedding

Bollywood starlet Dia Mirza just got married to her long time beau Sahil Sangha. Dia considered Boman as her father ever since the actor played the role of her dad in Rajkumar Hirani’s Lage Raho Munnabhai. As she lost her father much before, Dia wanted Boman to do the kanyadaan. However,Boman Irani was reportedly busy promoting his film Happy New Year and failed to turn up at her wedding to perform the rituals, which apparently left the new bride teary-eyed.

A few days prior to the wedding, Dia Mirza had said, “Boman Irani is someone who I’ve always called pop and share a special bond with. When we were shooting for Lage Raho Munnabhai, he said, ‘Whenever you’re getting married, I’d like to give you away.’ So, he’s going to be performing all the rituals that a father needs to perform at the ceremony.”

Boman Irani’s last minute non-appearance left everyone shocked. A close friend of the bride says, "Dia is a wonderful soul, a truly kindred spirit who believes in life-long commitments. When she had invited Boman to take her father's place at her wedding she meant it from her heart. Boman readily agreed to be there. Known to be a man true to his words, he however let down his adopted daughter on the most important day of her life."

"The girl was in tears. There was panic at the wedding trying to find someone suitable to replace Boman at the last minute," says Dia's friend.

Dia had informed Boman about her wedding time and venue and invited him to play her father in her real wedding but unfortunately, Boman failed to make his presence felt.
