Box Office: Furious 7 set to create 100 crore club, Ek Paheli Leela yields profit

With what has been the most disappointing year for business of cinema in the last few years, the first film that seems to be earning Rs. 100 crores is a Hollywood release. The fast paced action thriller ‘Furious 7’ is apparently on its way to become the first ever Holywood film to go past the coveted figure, which we Indians believe to be a huge parameter for success.

The Vin Diesel led high octane thriller after two weeks of its release in India, has been able to churn some huge numbers. The film is currently standing at a massive figure of 94 crores and is on its way too hit the century. If the film is able to get another week at theatres (which it should), Furious 7 would indeed create a 100 crore club for Hollywood releases in India, and will also set a new benchmark for upcoming overseas biggies.

On the other hand, after a successful opening weekend and subsequently strong weekdays, Sunny Leone starrer Ek Paheli Leela has hit earned 25 crores at box office. For a film that has no major star and is made on a nominal budget of Rs. 12 crores, these numbers would surely be encouraging. The other release of the week, the Paresh Rawal starring Dharam Sankat Mein has sadly been ruled out of race. Sushant Singh Rajput’s Detective Byomkesh Bakshy in its last few days couldn’t really put much of a fight and has  been able to collect 25.03 crores in two weeks so far.
