Calendar Girls Fails At Box Office, Producer Upset With Madhur Bhandarkar

Madhur Bhandarkar directorial Calendar girls released a few weeks back and failed miserably at the box office. Sangeeta Ahir, who produced the film, has blamed Bhandarkar for not doing his job whole-heartedly. “As producers, we left Madhur to do his job because of his experience. We gave him complete creative control”, she said.

Sangeeta continues, “Every film, successful or unsuccessful, teaches us something. The Calendar Girls experience has taught me a lot. You have to tap the pulse of the people, not just market it. It’s important not to just make a good film, but a very good film in today’s times (like Talvar)”.

She also said, “Calendar Girls could have been very good. Every director has to think of that and not be about I, me and myself. It’s about team work and team spirit. The director is the captain of the whole team. He can’t sit and say, ‘That’s my throne!’ That’s not acceptable”.
