    CBFC Seems To Be Master Of Their Own Will

    The Central Board of Film Certification seems to be master of their own will. Recently, the makers of the former Indian Prime minister Manmohan Singh biopic were asked to get a no objection certificate from everyone affiliated to the movie by the board. Now, in the case of Madhur Bhandarkar helmed ‘Indu Sarkar’, which is about former Indian Prime minister Indira Gandhi, The board requires no NOC.

    The popular CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani on being asked about the Madhur Bhandarkar directorial was quoted as saying, “I saw Madhur’s trailer, and I want to congratulate him for blowing the lid off of one of the most shameful chapters in Indian politics. This was a time when the nation was put in the most embarrassing spotlight in the global arena. Many of our biggest leaders had to go to jail during the Emergency. Indian people’s morale had hit rock-bottom”.

    The upcoming movie will depict the emergency period during the time of former Indian Prime minister Indira Gandhi has been given a green signal to hit the screens without any hassles. On being asked about the certain decision the chief was quoted as saying, “I didn’t hear anyone’s name mentioned in the trailer. If they are mentioned in the film, we will see”.  The chief closed his statement saying, “At the moment, I’m glad someone has made a film on the Emergency. It’s a kaala dhabba (black spot) on our political history”.
