Deepika Padukone: I don`t give importance to Rs. 100 crore club

Bollywood’s leggy lass Deepika Padukone is flying high this year as both of her 2013 releases so far, Race 2 and the recent Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, have made it to the cream of the crop, the highly sought-after Rs. 100 crore club. But Deepika does not seem to be much interested in the 100 crore hype at all.

As told by Deepika, "It feels good when your films do good business and is appreciated by everyone. It is an added bonus. But I don`t give importance to Rs 100 crore club. I continue to focus on my work and do better. But what if a film earns money but the film is not good... I feel all good films should do well.” Deepika also feels, "It feels good when films like `Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani`, `Barfi` and others do well. One should not categorise the success of films genre wise, like only action or masala films will do well. All good films will do well.” While her Race 2 received a huge response at the box-office, YJHD became the first film to reach the 100 crore milestone within a week of its release.

Though her last three films including Cocktail became successful commercially, she said, "I don`t sit and analyse about the films I do. It feels good that my films have been liked by the audience.” But Deepika is not very choosy about her roles yet, "I work on a film if I feel excited and If I know I will enjoy being part of the project. I have not changed my approach to work.” After debuting opposite Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om, she carried on with blockbusters like Bachna Ae Haseeno, Love Aaj Kal, Cocktail and a lot more. The 27-year-old actress said her journey so far has been a learning period for her, "Every time you go on a film set you come out learning new things. Every film has taught me something or the other. It feels good when people from the industry call you and appreciate your work.” While her next release Chennai Express is gearing up for its opening on August 8, the year 2013 will see her finish off with Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s Ram Leela opposite Ranveer Singh.
