Department does not revolve around true stories of Mumbai cops: RGV

Mumbai - The latest rumours that Ram Gopal Varmas upcoming film Department is based on the real-life characters of the Mumbai police have been denied by the Bollywood director as baseless. The filmmaker, who failed to deliver any big hits of late, says, Some sections of the press reported Department is based upon real life characters in Mumbai police...it's not true. Earlier it was reported that the story of the film, which features Amitabh Bachchan as gangster Sarjerao Gaikwad and southern star Rana Daggubati as a grungy policeman, revolves around the Mumbai polices Anti-Terrorist Squad and the struggle within the police department. The movie is scheduled to release on May 18.
