Producer-filmmaker Aditya Chopra, the scion of Yash Raj Films, has made his message very clear to the movie theatres nationwide saying, “Go digital or Miss Dhoom 3.” It is going to have a negative impact on the single screen theatres which are lacking from the facilities of screening films digitally. They can also miss the Dhoom 3 screenings for their audiences.

If Aditya follows his own message truly then he is also going to face a huge loss but still he is confident enough that the numbers of his film’s viewers would be so massive that it will make up for all the losses. According to a source, “The message has been sent out that theatres must have either digital technology or UFO digital cinema if they want to screen D3. Release of movies through digital and UFO digital cinema prevents piracy as the prints are water-marked and finger-printed and can be traced back. It is believed that usually films are copied for piracy when the reels are being transported to theatres in the country and abroad.” Digital cinema is mostly helpful in controlling piracy as the scope of leaking the content gets reduced. The producer also undergoes some sort of cost-cutting as the cost of printing reels is saved. The copyrights of the producers and distributors also get secured through the digital encoding of the contents. The digital prints can never be copied also. Hence this huge step taken by Aditya Chopra must be saving crores of rupees which would be saved by stopping film piracy.
