Am Looking For Something Challenging To Develop As An Artist: Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya

Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya became a popular name on the small screen ever since her debut show Banoo Main Teri Dulhann went on air. Since then, Divyanka has been part of various fiction and non-fiction shows. Currently playing the lead in the daily soap Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Divyanka feels that it’s time to try something new and the actor, apparently is keen on taking up more challenging offers, be it films or television.

“I can’t do similar things every time [a role comes my way]. Right now, I am looking for some variation. Over the past 12 years on TV, I have tried exploring various characters. Now, I feel that it’s time for me to try something new that would challenge me as an artist,” says Divyanka.

Asked if she is keen on trying her luck in Bollywood like her small screen contemporaries, the actor says she would love to, but the offer needs to be appealing enough. “I am ready to experiment, and open to taking up any interesting offer.I won’t sign anything and everything that is being offered. [Also], I need to keep the makers of my current show [Ye Hai Mohabbatein] posted well in advance before I take up any new offer. I can’t just leave the show in the lurch,” adds Divyanka, who along with her actor husband Vivek Dahiya recently won dance reality show Nach Baliye 8.

Talking about the kind of roles she would love to take up on the big screen, Divyanka says she wants to be a part of films fronted by women. “Bollywood is essentially dominated by men, and I can’t just be a pretty face in a film. Women-centric films are something that I would love to do. Among the recent ones, I liked watching Sridevi in Mom. Such powerful roles are what I am looking at. I also enjoyed Queen (2014) and Pink (2016),” adds Divyanka.
