Everything you need to know about the Kapil Sharma-Sunil Grover spat

The news of Kapil Sharma introducing his ladylove Ginni garnered much attention. However, at present, the Kapil-Sunil Grover spat has taken precedence. After the fracas on their flight back from Australia, where after allegedly Kapil abused Sunil, the latter was quite hurt by the attitude. Sources revealed that he might quit The Kapil Sharma Show (TKSS).

Early morning on March 21, the two co-stars posted their feelings on social media. Sunil broke his silence with some hard-hitting words. He said that Kapil “hurt” him deeply and that he should “start respecting human beings also apart from animals”. Sunil added that while not everyone is “as successful” and “as talented” as him, he should have “gratitude towards their existence”. Sunil also said, “Thanks for making me realise it was your show and you have power to throw out anybody, anytime. You are the wittiest, and the best in your field. But don’t act like a ‘God’.” Kapil too posted his apology on twitter saying, “Paji @WhoSunilGrover sry if I hurt u unintentionally. u knw vry well how much I luv u. M also upset. love n regards always:) (sic).”

What happened

On March 18, Kapil verbally abused and physically assaulted Sunil when they were returning from Australia after performing at a show. Reportedly, Kapil was drunk and Sunil tried to cool things down when Kapil was hurling abuses at his co-star Chandan Prabhakar. Things got heated and Sunil intervened when Kapil turned to Sunil and got abusive and aggressive and even held his collar. Sunil also tried to talk to the cabin crew into overlooking Kapil’s behaviour. Kapil apparently told Sunil that “Your show flopped and you came back to me. You work for me.” He even abused his other colleagues Ali Asgar and Kiku Sharda calling them per day artistes and that he could throw them out of his show anytime.

After the news broke, Kapil posted on Facebook, on March 20, clarifying that he did argue with Sunil but they are like family, and he loves and respects him.

Latest update

On March 20, an episode of TKSS was shot with the Naam Shabana team wherein Kapil, Kiku Sharda and others were present but Sunil and Chandan didn’t turn up for the shoot. A source says, “The shoot was quite tense unlike the usual fun vibe. Kapil was in a bad mood and the episode might not even turn out to be as entertaining.”

Post pack-up, Kapil tweeted, “@WhoSunilGrover today packed up at 6am after so long n I missed so many things.. love u .. see u in evening at ur home (sic),” implying that there might be yet another twist to this tale.

While Kapil is the face of TKSS, the characters Sunil plays — Dr Mashoor Gulati and Rinku Bhabhi — are loved by the audience. Sources claim, Sunil was deeply hurt by his co-star’s alleged behaviour and has decided to quit the show and is in talks with the channel. But sources also claim that post Kapil’s public apology, things might take another turn.

Was Kapil’s announcement of love a diversion?

While the news of Kapil-Sunil spat was yet to be out, another piece of information from Kapil made headlines. He announced his love for girlfriend Ginni with a tweet surprising many, as Kapil is known to be mum about his personal life. When contacted, Kapil had said, “Why don’t people believe me? (laughs). Yes, it is true. Ginni (above left) and I are in love and she is lovely. We are not engaged yet. I will get married next year. I am very happy.”
