Farhan Akhtar’s concern for flood struck people: My heart goes out to the victims

Filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar may be busy with the promotion of his upcoming film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, but he has not forgotten to keep a tab on the recent updates of the flood affected people in Uttrakhand. The actor calls this incident terrible and comments, “My heart goes out to the victims ... I believe the death toll is much higher than what’s been declared yet.”

When inquired if his sympathy is limited to just the concerns and the tweets only, he said, “I’d be dishonest if I claim that I have done anything concrete yet. I’ve been totally occupied with promoting Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. But, if someone from the industry initiates a step to raise funds for the victims, I would be the first one to support it.” He adds saying that during the Bihar floods in 2008, they did a charity concert and raised an amount ofRs.3.5 crore. Half of the charity amount went to Shatrughan Sinha’s charity Prayas and rest to the Nargis Dutt Foundation.

Farhan talked about his film that they tried to make an honest film, “People ought to know about what a sports legend like Milkha Singh Ji had to go through ... his struggle, his pain. Perhaps this will also draw attention to the absolutely pathetic state of sports infrastructure that exists in our country.” He preferred not to comment on Sonam’s verdict, who calls her role in the film as accessory in the flick, “You’ll have to ask her why she said that. Her role in the film may be brief but it’s a very significant one. And anyway, who can ever think of Sonam Kapoor as just an accessory. I certainly can’t”. May this concern be an initiative from the industry towards the traumatised families.
