Fawad Khan, Not Abhay Deol, Was First Choice For ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’

Upcoming romantic comedy ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’ is all set to hit silver screens on August 19. For the uninitiated, the movie stars Diana Penty, Abhay Deol, Ali Fazal and Momal Sheikh in the lead roles. But even the well acquainted ones might not know that the first choice for the flick was not Abhay but Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan.

When asked if the makers were considering casting Fawad as the male lead, film producer Krishika Lulla revealed, “We were contemplating it, but it was a long back. Yes, we did think of him but at that time Fawad was doing something else and his dates were not there”. Krishika added that Abhay "loved the script" eventually.

"He is very choosy about his projects. It's the content that got Abhay and Diana Penty together for the film and we have Pakistani actors also. It was a good experience”, she added.

The producer also stated that the movie, unlike other hard-hitting cross-border films, is a light-hearted one. “After Rustom and Mohenjo Daro, this will be a refreshing light-hearted film”, Krishika stated.

Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the movie will be jointly produced by Anand L. Rai and Krishika. Let’s wait to see what the much awaited flick has stored in for movie buffs.
