    Filmaker Raj Tilak is no more

    The man behind popular films like 36 Ghante, Mukti, Chehre Pe Chehra and Tumhare Liye, filmmaker Raj Tilak passed away on October 6 at the age of 73. He was suffering from some serious complications following a spine surgery, reports have just arrived.

    The son-in-law of (late) BR Chopra, Raj Tilak was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on September 21 after he complained of crucial back pain. His son Vishal told a leading daily, "My dad was suffering from back pain since the past few months. He underwent a spine surgery. After that he developed a severe infection and we were told it was septicaemia. He remained in the ICU and passed away on Monday." His funeral was also held on the same day of his death at Pawan Hans crematorium (Vile Parle).

    While Ravi Chopra's wife Renu and sons Abhay and Kapil representedthe Chopra family at the funeral, it was also attended by Manmohan Shetty and TV producer and Producers Guild Treasurer Manish Goswamiamong many others from the film fraternity. Goswami said,“I knew Raj for more than 20 years. He was very actively involved in the Producers Guild. We were very good friends. I shall miss him." Tilak made films with yesteryear actors likeShashiKapoor, Raaj Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, Mala Sinha, Rekha and Parveen Babi in the 70s and 80s. May Tilak’s soul rest in peace.
