Filmfare Under The Radar For Nominating Pakistani Artistes

Filmfare Under The Radar For Nominating Pakistani Artistes

The unfortunate Uri attacks created a sense of unrest in the nation that led to the ban of Pakistani artists. The artists were banned from doing Indian movies and from working in the whole entertainment industry. Following which, the neighbouring country too imposed a ban on screening Indian films.

Now, the latest in the front is that the issue has reignited. If reports are to be believed, Filmfare is under the scanner for nominating Pakistani artists in different categories. Reportedly, Fawad Khan has been nominated for his performance in Shakun Batra’s Kapoor & Sons and two singers Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Atif Aslam have been short-listed. However, the artistes are not even allowed to come and receive their awards even if they win.

Many people from the industry are not happy with their nominations. As per a filmmaker, “It’s a matter of self-respect. We are not welcome in Pakistan. They brutally kill and maim our soldiers. And we behave as if our cinema can’t do without their artistes”.

We hope things get settled soon.
