Filmy Friday: New releases start very slow, no hopes for Box Office

Both Bollywood releases today opened to a very a dismal note at the ticket counters earlier this morning and showed no signs of any improvement. While Sunny Leone’s Ek Paheli Leela was a little better as mass centres, Paresh Rawal’s Dharam Sankat Mein found hard to see any takers. This week’s box office seems to be getting too cold.

The critics in all possibility ripped apart the Sunny Leone starrer as one of the most low rated films of the year. With reviews going entirely in different direction, the way makers could have hoped for a better result was if the audience went in only as Sunny and sex as major factors. The film will have to bank on the word of mouth, which doesn’t look like to be very encouraging.

On the other hand, Paresh Rawal’s religious satire Dharam Sankat Mein was relatively rated better but didn’t find any takers. While a positive word of mouth seems a rare possibility, at this rate nothing seems like taking the film up on box office. This week will again rely on Furious 7 and Detective Byomkesh Bakshy as top choices, however, this one’s going to be a cold week at the ticket counters.
