FIR against Manjhi: The Mountain Man Leak Registered

More than a week before the release of Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte starrer Manjhi: The Mountain Man, the censor copy of the flick was leaked online. The Bajrangi Bhaijaan star along with Viacom 18 Motion Pictures (film’s distributors), have registered a case under section 420 of IPC and other relevant sections of Copy Right Act and Information Technology Act, at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) cyber police station. The FIR was registered yesterday after police carried out a preliminary inquiry.

“We have already started communicating with some website operators to block the sites”, said a senior police officer. Talking of the delay, he said, “The process of identifying the URLs, getting to the source of unauthorised uploading and downloading of the film is a time-consuming process”. Since Manjhi: The Mountain Man was a small budget film, it is expected to hamper the business of the flick quite seriously.

The film is based on a real life story of a poor farmer named Dashrath Majhi, who carved a path through a mountain using just a chisel and a hammer. The flick has released yesterday. By far, the Ketan Mehta directorial has received positive critical acclaim.
