Gracious as he is, Bombay Velvet makers owe Karan Johar a big Thank You

An ace producer in himself who knows what the money dealings, budgeting and crunching mean in Bollywood, Karan Johar hasn’t charged a single penny to the makers of Bombay Velvet. Karan who makes his acting debut in Anurag Kashyap’s venture has been generous enough to not take any fee whatsoever despite of producer’s insistence.

Bombay Velvet is being produced by Kashyap himself along with Vikas Bahl who recently directed the very beautiful Queen. Both of them reportedly did ask Karan to accept his fee but the actor/producer/director simply refused. To this extremely generous and welcoming gesture, Anurag and Vikas (Phantom films owners) sent him a giant cheque of rupees eleven as a token of thanks and appreciation. “Yes, he has not taken any remuneration, because this film is his ‘passion project’. I think the full team will always be indebted to him. We are thankful to Karan for agreeing to do the film. He is absolutely fantastic in his role and we don’t have words to describe how proud we are that he chose to debut as an actor with this film” said Vikas when asked about the news. Whoever has watched Bombay Velvet so far has been extremely impressed with Karan’s work and say he’s been outstanding. The film that stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead is scheduled to release on 28th of November this year. Fox Star Studios is producing the movie along with Phantom films.
