Haider to be the show stealer?

Haider to be the show stealer?

With less than 40 hours left for the box office to witness the mega clash of Bang Bang and Haider, one can’t help but asses the possibilities of Shahid Kapoor starrer turning out to be the dark horse. The Vishal Bharadwaj film is one hell of a package that a major section of audience is amazed by. Haider has everything that one would hope for a sensitive dark story to have but the scepticism regarding the film would always hover since it is releasing with a film like Bang Bang.

The last time when Vishal and Shahid had collaborated for Kaminey, most people laughed at them for coming out with an out of the box project with no sensibilities to the taste of Indian audience. As it turned out, the film was not only loved by the viewers, it also collected a fair amount of moolah at the box office. Shahid is considering Haider to be his best work to date and what the audience has made out of his work through the promos is simply amazing. Not just that, the cast of the film looks like an institution of acting in itself. With Tabu, Kay Kay Menon, Irrfan Khan in the top line, one can be sure of watching at least one performance beyond par this year.

Vishal Bharadwaj is a pro when it comes to adapting Shakespeare plays into movies. While Maqbool is one of his best works, Omakara too was a phenomenal experience. Haider is third in the list being the cinematic adaption of famous play ‘Hamlet’. The question here is, how will the audience receive it at the counters. While the box office is vast enough to accommodate two big movies, the producers of Haider would be cautious if the film isn’t over shadowed by Bang Bang. The film has to release on good number of screens to be sure of earning profits. Haider has to generate a positive word of mouth for itself since mere good reviews won’t work. The film has a lot going in its favour and has a lot to offer to the audience. It has created a substantial buzz for itself but the final test would only be conducted when the film opens on Thursday.
