Popular to experiment in the zone of cinema that not many filmmakers want to get in, director Sriram Raghvan believes that added budget comes along with added pressure. After directing films like Ek Haseena Thi, Johnny Gaddar and now Badlapur, Raghvan feels that having a star has its own pros and cons.

According to the filmmaker, while a star helps the film take a big start, it also increases the budget of the film and hence the pressure. “Making a big budget film does affect because the more the budget, the bigger the star, the more pressure you have. The question is how to return the money”? he quoted. He later added that having a star also helps in many ways. “Having said that, I also believe stars certainly help the film in many ways. Their reach is more, so you get a bigger opening because of them”, he said.

While his moderately budgeted Badlapur earned almost double of its original cost, the filmmaker told that Varun Dhawan as a ‘star’ helped pushing the film. “When I signed Varun for ‘Badlapur’, he was just one film old. Now he has become a big star. This certainly helped our film that Varun is a star now”, he added.
