Himansh Kohli is working hard to get his Maithili accent right for Ranchi Diaries

Actor Himansh Kohli, who made his acting debut with the film Yaariyaan (2014), is busy perfecting his Maithili accent these days. You wonder why? The actor plays a Jharkhand boy in his next film, Ranchi Diaries, and wants to make sure he sounds the part.

The actor says that he doesn’t want to go overboard with the accent and wants it to sound realistic, which is why he took help from his friends who stay in Jharkhand. “I have spent a lot of time with my Jharkhand friends during the workshop, which was organised before the film. I was sure that I didn’t want to make my character a Jharkhand stereotype and thus decided to take help from a coach as well,” says Himansh, who has also starred in films such as Jeena Isi Ka Nam Hai and Sweetie Weds NRI.

The actor has also been watching films and shows starring characters from Jharkhand in order to perfect his accent. “Apart from that, he has also been interacting with the locals to understand how they pronounce words. He also watched films and videos from there to see how other actors say their dialogues,” says a source, close to the actor.
