Huma Qureshi, the new Meena Kumari?

The Gangs of Wasseypur actressHuma Qureshi, has done wonders right from the beginning of her career and now there is a probability that she can be the new face of the Tragedy Queen Meena Kumari. Bhatti On Chutti and Mittal Vs Mittal director Karan Razdan is planning for a biopic on the legendary actress and the filmmaker thinks that Huma will fit best for this role.

Razdan talked, "I have spent about four years to do the research and write the script. We have just finished the script and we will start shooting from early next year." He further added, "Meena Kumari`s life and her journey has been very fascinating. We want someone who could justify her role and I think Huma Qureshi will fit the bill. I want to cast her for the biopic. We have not approached her so far, but my team will be talking to her soon."

However, Razdan has not reached the actress yet and the project is still in talks. Meena Kumari, born as Mahjabeen Bano, was the most influential actress of Indian cinema. She worked in numerous award winning ventures including Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Azaad, Aarti, Dil Ek Mandir etc. Meanwhile, Huma is busy with shooting of Dedh Ishqiya and X.
