I am still called the Masaan guy, says actor Vicky Kaushal

Still basking in the glory of his 2015 film, Masaan, actor Vicky Kaushal says the film did wonders for him. He’s thankful that filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan chose him for the drama. “I’m still called the Masaan guy. We were never prepared for the response the film received. It’s motivating that people are still talking about the film,” says Vicky.

The film’s success “boosted” Vicky’s professional journey. “When I started my journey in Bollywood I had dreamt of working with a few names but things weren’t falling in place. But after Masaan, many doors opened up for me. I started getting calls from people who not just appreciated my effort but also showed interest in working with me,” he says.

Vicky jokes that he often emotionally blackmails the filmmaker to make sure that he takes him on board for his second film. “Richa (Chadha) and I keep pestering him to make Masaan 2. We even joke that he should rope us in and start working on the film so that something finally comes out of it. But, on a serious note, I am a fan of Neeraj’s work both as an actor and audience. I’d love to work with him again no matter how small or lengthy the part is,” he says.

All praises for Ghaywan, Vicky says that the director has done a wonderful short film. “I have seen this beautiful short film that he has made recently. I think he is currently working on his next and is busy with the extensive research that is required for it,” he adds.
