I Came From Outside, But Made My Name: Jackie Shroff Weighs In On Nepotism Debate

Veteran Star Jackie Shroff was a big name in the 80s and 90s of Bollywood. The actor has been a part of the industry for almost 40 years and has starred in more than 220 movies in ten languages. Recently, the Ram Lakhan star opened up in an interview.

On being asked about ‘Nepotism’, which is the most talked about topic these days, the Hero star was quoted as saying, “I came from outside and made my name. It's easy to say that he/she is a star kid and has had it easy in Bollywood, but being a star kid is the real pressure. You have to undergo a lot of pressure as you are being constantly compared to your parents. It is very difficult to match the stature of Bachchan sahib, Abhishek is constantly judged on his legacy, which is unfair”.

The Gardish star also revealed that his real name is Jaikishan, which was changed to Jackie by Subhash Ghai when he was launched in Hero. On being asked about the fixing of awards, Jaggu Dada was quoted as saying, “If you are really talented, the audience will reward you. One doesn't need to receive awards to prove his talent”.
