I don't like watching horror films. I find them unpleasant: Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi Sinha has mostly worked in action and drama movies such as Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty (2014) and Force 2 (2016), but she is now keen on exploring other genres. When asked which new genre she is looking forward to act in, and Sonakshi says, “Maybe I’d like to take up an out-and-out rom-com, which I haven’t attempted before. I’d love to do a chick flick too.”

Horror as a genre is not as popular in India as it is in other countries, and most mainstream actors haven’t worked in horror flicks. Sonakshi isn’t fond of spooky movies either. “I don’t like watching them because I find them unpleasant. I like to leave the theatre with a happy feeling. Otherwise, I am not someone who gets scared or won’t sleep for days,” she says.

But would she ever sign a horror movie? The actor says it depends on the quality of the script. “A lot of horror films have done well. I feel with the advancements in technology, we can do a lot more. I don’t watch horror films, but it would be interesting to be a part of them,” she says.

Film is said to be a director’s medium first and foremost, but would Sonakshi ever voice her concerns if she disagrees with the director on a creative level? The actor says she would only do so when it’s regarding her character. “I wouldn’t like to interfere with [the director’s] vision otherwise. Once I sign a film, it is my job to execute what I’m asked to do by the director to the best of my ability. The director is the captain of the ship. Unless I feel really strongly about something, I will not say it. I will only do that if I feel that [my suggestions] will make a difference.”

Sonakshi will next be seen in Noor, and the adaptation of Ittefaq, co-starring Sidharth Malhotra.
