A terrorist attack in Uri last year, that killed 85 civilians and thousands injured, created a state of unrest in the country and no one was unaffected by it, not even Bollywood. While India decided to ban Pakistani artistes from working in Indian movies, the neighbouring country too imposed a ban on screening Indian films.

Both the industry suffered losses because of this and lost out on many notable talents. One such talent is singer Atif Aslam. National Award winning director Onir recently said IANS that he really wanted to work with the singing sensation for Shab but the ban kept him away. However, he will definitely work with him in the future.

He said, “I really wanted to (work with Atif Aslam). It would have been so amazing, just like a retreating therapy. But unfortunately at the point when we had to record, things were not great between (the neighbouring countries)… There were a lot of problems happening with films and ours being a small film I couldn’t afford that kind of thing”.

On a related note, Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil became the first Indian film to release in Pakistan after the suspension of the ban.
