Ranbir Kapoor, who looks determined to carry forward the legacy of the Kapoors in the Hindi film industry, has admitted that if ever he goes into production, he will be launching his own banner instead of making films under RK Films, which was set up by his late grandfather Raj Kapoor.

As the buzz was going on that Ranbir may revive the RK Films banner, the emerging superstar of Bollywood revealed, "If I make a film then I would have my own production company.” He stated further, "I don`t believe in revivals. The revival will happen when a film is made. My grandfather had made so many films, launched such a good established banner. But I am not of the view that I should make a film under that banner. If I have a point of view, if I have an idea to make a film then maybe I would like to do it.” Successful films like Awaara, Boot Polish, Jagte Raho, Shree 420, Mera Naam Joker and Bobby, to mention a few, are listed to the RK Films banner.

After the sad demise of Raj Kapoor in 1988, his son Randhir Kapoor took charge of the studio. After the failure of their production venture in 1999, Aa Ab Laut Chalen, the production house stopped making films. But the actor showed a slight ray of hope of revival saying, "I think if we get a chance, if there is a director and if we want to make a film, then we would definitely do it. But as of now I am busy with acting... When the time is right and if things fall in place then we will do it.” He also brushed off the reports that Agent Vinod director Sriram Raghavan has been roped in by him to make a film under RK Films banner. He clarified, "Sriram Raghavan is not making a film for RK Banner.”
