I’m hungrier than ever to sink my teeth into something challenging: Tisca Chopra

Tisca Chopra is on cloud nine. Her short film Chutney has garnered a great response online. Not just that, the actor recently completed the shooting for an international film, The Hungry, where she will be seen playing the protagonist. The movie also stars Naseeruddin Shah and Neeraj Kabi, along with few international actors.

A source says, “The film is based on the Shakespeare play, Titus Andronicus. Being one of his earliest plays, it has tones of Macbeth, Hamlet and Othello. This film will showcase Tisca’s ability in a tailor-made role. The role is beyond anything she has done before. It is bold, sensuous and exciting. People may never have imagined Tisca doing such an audacious role before.” The film has been shot in North India earlier this year and is in the postproduction phase.

“After Qissa (2015), which won The Best Asian Film at the Toronto International Film Festival, this movie will give Tisca a chance to show her skills to the international audience,” adds the source.

Ask Tisca about the film and she says, “This a great phase for me. The role is a wildly exciting one, which has challenged me in a way. I had sleepless nights thinking about some of the scenes of the movie and how I would do them. Post Chutney, which was a dream debut for me as a writer and producer, I am hungrier than ever to sink my teeth into something juicy, fresh and even more challenging. It showed me that audiences are ready to be challenged. I feel audiences want new things, especially from me now.”

Talking about her future projects, she adds, “Our new short film will be out in a few months. We have also finished writing a feature film, a comedy set in Delhi and Shah Rukh Khan would be apt for that.”
