Irrfan Khan: Bollywood Is Not Just About Song-Dance Routine

Irrfan Khan might have made a mark in Hollywood but the actor still feels proud about the industry that has raised him to superstardom. The Talvar actor says that Bollywood, which is popular for its song-dance routine is evolving day by day and Indian filmmakers these days give importance to the content of the films instead of mere entertainment. He further says that he would love to change the image of Hindi cinema being portrayed out there in the west.

“People in the west have a broad image about Bollywood that we are all about the song and dance routine and I hope it changes. I would love to change that. There are films like The Lunchbox and Piku which have kind of changed the way people conceive Bollywood. All these films are slowly changing the perception and establishing that we are not just about song and dance and that we have strong content to back our films”, the Slumdog Millionaire actor told Hindustan Times.

“We must start targeting the global audience and not just the Indian diaspora to show them how good we are”, added the Life Of Pi actor. Talking about the song-dance routines, Irrfan once said that Hollywood should also consider the culture.  “Also they should imbibe our song-and-dance culture. I think Hollywood could do wonders with it”, said the Jurassic World star.
