Varun Dhawan has worked with his father David Dhawan (in Main Tera Hero; 2013, and is currently shooting for Judwaa 2) as well as his elder brother, Rohit Dhawan (in Dishoom; 2016).

But when he’s asked which of the two he would prefer to work with, the actor says, “I can’t choose. It will be very wrong for me to choose between them. First of all, I think it’s wrong to compare Rohit to dad. But I feel, for any director who has made just two films, Rohit is right up there, among the best [directors] any actor can work with.”

The Badrinakth Ki Dulhania actor reveals that he “had to beg Rohit” to cast him in his film, because Rohit had refused to consider Varun for any of his films. “I had to tell him that I really wanted to work [with him] and that I thought we would do a good job,” says Varun.

The actor, who debuted with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year (2012), adds that his father and brother “aren’t difficult” to please on the set. “It’s just that you have to do a scene differently. If you do something in a normal way or half-heartedly, then they will not be okay. I remember, in Dishoom, he made me do 16 takes for an action scene where I had to jump over a car. Then, he also made me run multiple times. All three of us have one thing common: no matter what, we don’t cheat the audience regardless of making a bad or a good film,” he says.
