How badly do we miss the times when masses all across the nation would queue up to watch an Alok Nath preaching family values to his kids in a family and a Reema Lagoo would shed tears on her daughter being married?? It’s ‘Family Re-union time in Hindi Cinema’ as Prem Ratan Dhan Payo goes on floors

Salman Khan starrer, director Sooraj Barjayta’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo officially went on floors this Sunday in Mumbai’s Karjat. The film is a trademark Rajshri product bringing back the traditional family genre back to its roots. The film stars Sonam Kapoor in the lead opposite Salman which was previously going to be played by Deepika Padukone. Not sure if it’s Deepika’s bad luck or Sonam’s good fortune but fact assured, it is indeed a special film. The opening day of the shoot didn’t see Salman on the sets since he wasn’t required but the actor is soon expected to join the crew where he plays the title role of ‘Prem’. Director Sooraj Barjatya hasn’t helmed a venture since 2006’s hit ‘Vivah’, therefore we as audience have a lot expecting out of him. It’s also very interesting to see Sallu Bhai here since he goes back to where he started from ‘Clean Family Dramas’. All his recent blockbusters have come only in the genre of action and ‘Larger than Life’ shades, hence his comeback to the traditional cinema has a lot of eyeballs staring. His latest ‘Kick’ has gained momentum in promotions and releases this Eid. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo will release on the auspicious occasion of Diwali next year making itself a much anticipated project.
