Jab Harry Met Sejal box office: Shah Rukh Khan film manages Rs 52 crore in four days

Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are that troika on which film trade has the most faith. Their films are touted as festivals, each of their release termed blockbusters before they are even in theatres. Or, that was so. Now that seven months of 2017 are over, it seems only Aamir will emerge with his reputation intact. As Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal “disappoints”, Salman’s Tubelight was the film that brought no jingle at the ticket windows. Yes, they still made a lot of crores but fell short of their intended targets – making several hundered crores at the box office.

Jab Harry Met Sejal has received negative word-of-mouth and has been unequivocally damned by the critics. The film’s box office is already showing wrinkles – after four days at ticket window, the Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma film has made Rs 52.90 crore. On Raksha Bandhan which was a holiday for many in India, the film made Rs 7.15 crore – almost half of what it made during the last three days since its release. It failed to cross Rs 20-crore mark on any single day. “#JabHarryMetSejal Fri 15.25 cr, Sat 15 cr, Sun 15.50 cr, Mon 7.15 cr [Raksha Bandhan]. Total: ₹ 52.90 cr. India biz... #JHMS,” tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Earlier, he had tweeted, “#JabHarryMetSejal has emerged a DISAPPOINTMENT... Barring few metros, the biz ranged from ordinary to dull... Jump in biz was missing. #JHMS.”

Compare the revenue to what Shah Rukh Khan’s last film, Raees, also earned at the BO in four days and you will get a clearer picture. According to figures shared by Taran, the film – released on Wednesday – earned Rs 75.44 crore. “#Raees is EXCELLENT... Wed 20.42 cr, Thu 26.30 cr, Fri 13.11 cr, Sat 15.61 cr. Total: ₹ 75.44 cr. India biz.”

As compared to Raees, Jab Harry Met Sejal gets a shorter window at the box office. Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is set to release coming Friday and the screens will get divided among the two heartthrobs. Will Shah Rukh Khan starrer manage to earn even Rs 100 crore? The jury is still out.
