Jackie Shroff starrers Ram Lakhan and Hero came out in 1989 and 1983, and are now being remade. He is really happy and said, “It feels great and honestly, I take great pride in the kind of cinema I have been a part of when we had started”. Sooraj Pancholi will be playing Jackie’s role in the Hero remake.

According to AfterHrs, Jackie Shroff would prefer if Sidharth Malhotra would play him in the Ram Lakhan remake. The shooting for Hero has finished and with Sooraj playing the role, he said, “I like his look and his physique. Both kids (Athiya Shetty being the other ‘kid’) look lovely in the trailer. It’s a fabulous trailer.  I always wish the best for all the kids who work hard. They deserve superb results”. He added, “Sooraj has everything in him to become a star. With Hero, he’s surely going to be a craze, too”.

When asked if Sooraj came to him for advice on the character he played back in 1983, Jackie said, “No. Thank God, he didn’t. For remakes, you should never take advice or build your character on the person who played it in the original. I did and I didn’t see Motilalji’s Chunnibabu. I did it the way the director handled me. Now I am doing the Warrior remake (Brothers) but I haven’t seen that film or studied Nick Nolte. So Sooraj should never model his character on me. That’s why he’ll rock”. Hero is expected to be released on September 11 this year.
