How do you look back at the separation period, and your marriage?
It was an experience, and an amazing roller-coaster ride. There were some happy and sad moments. But I know that I gave my 500% [to my marriage], and no one can point a finger at me. I don’t regret a single day of my life. But, s**t happens. I don’t feel bitter or hold any grudges. I am in a happy space. People might think otherwise, but that’s not the case.

What did you think of the way your divorce was reported in the news?
I was upset with the leaking of the divorce papers because my address and phone number were mentioned on them. I didn’t want such personal information to be circulated.

In an interview, Karan said the two of you shouldn’t have gotten married in the first place. What do you think?
That’s his point of view. I can’t say anything about what he thinks.

He will soon be married to Bipasha. How do you feel?
I wish them good luck, and a happy married life. I think they make an amazing couple. Marriage is a beautiful thing if two people work on it and want to be together. May God bless them. I feel love is an amazing thing, and if you can feel it for someone, it is great.

How does it feel to be single?
It’s amazing. I was never totally single in my life, and now in my thirties, I am. Also, now I am more mature, I understand people, and I’m not naive or stupid. Every girl should be single at 30. It’s a liberating feeling to be free. Guys hit on me, and it feels good. They get intimidated by me, and I feel powerful. I feel people should have humour in their lives, as it makes it easy to handle any situation. At present, I don’t feel a lack of anything in my life.

You have been waiting for your debut film to release for a while. What’s the current status?
Working on this movie was an amazing experience, but I don’t know when it will release. I live for experiences, and if destiny permits it, I will get more opportunities. I don’t look at things in a negative light. My take-away from the film was the experience of working with Kunal Kohli (actor and director), and the rest of the crew.

Many TV actors are doing films now. Do you think both the mediums can be balanced?
That’s a good thing. Earlier, people were close-minded about TV actors, but now these mindsets are changing. There is a lot of experimentation happening [in terms of the scripts]. Many actors fail too, but that’s fine, as you end up learning something in the bargain.

You will soon be back on the small screen with a TV show after almost two years.
I hadn’t taken up new projects for a long time, as I was bored of doing the same roles. In my new show, I don’t play a good daughter-in-law or any daughter, as I don’t feel excited about such roles anymore. I play a sociopath in my new show, which is exciting. This will be a good change for the audience, and also for me, as I have never played a role with grey shades. It’s making me nervous too.
