Jiah Khan Suicide Case: ‘It Is Almost A Year Now’, Court Asks CBI

It’s been a year that the case of Bollywood actress Jiah Khan, who was an American citizen and who committed suicide in 2013, had been transferred to central probe agency, and yet there is no progress. The latest hearing, which took place on November 18, sought the court asking CBI the status of investigation in the case. On the basis of the Houseful actress’ suicide letter, Sooraj Pancholi, Jiah Khan’s alleged boyfriend, had been booked for ‘abetment of suicide’.

“What is the status of CBI investigation? Is anybody from the CBI present”, asked A.S. Shende, who is the special women’s court judge. “It is almost a year now (since the CBI took over the case)”, she added. The judge took notice that a charge sheet hasn’t been filed yet, despite the fact that CBI has completed the investigation, as claimed.

Sooraj Pancholi was reportedly present during the hearing, which took place on Wednesday. The reports suggest that nobody from CBI attended the hearing. The court, yesterday, declared that advocate Dinesh Tiwari, who has previous represented Jiah’s mother, has now been appointed as the special public prosecutor in the case.
