Jiah Khan suicide case: Sooraj Pancholi’s bail plea to be heard in Bombay High Court

On Wednesday, Sooraj Pancholi’s legal advisers took a huge step and appealed to the Bombay High Court to review the lower court’s bail rejection of the accused in Jiah Khan’s suicide case. Following the charges of abuse invoked against Sooraj, the sessions court rejected to grant bail to the accused on June 21.

Now his lawyers Ashok Mundergi and Shrikant Shivde have challenged the order claiming their client was arrested on the basis of some undated letters, which came to notice after some days of actress Jiah Khan’s death. As per the letter, the police have charged Sooraj with abetment of Jiah’s suicide. But the lawyers argued that nowhere in the letter Sooraj has been specified for a single time.

Though the sessions court rejected the bail plea, they were also not assured of the genuineness of the letter. Sooraj’s lawyers are pretty sure that the letter’s handwriting and Jiah’s original handwriting are quite different. He was ordered to stay in jail till June 27; hence his judicial custody ends today. Now the plea for Sooraj’s bail will be heard on July 5 by the High Court. Sooraj, son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, was arrested on June 10.
