Jingidi: Rana Daggubati's uncle, actor Venkatesh, makes a solid singing debut

He’s been a busy actor for over three decades but Venkatesh’s fans had reasons to cheer on Monday as his maiden song’s making video was released. In his upcoming film Guru, a remake of Saala Khadoos, he has crooned a fun number called Jingidi, and he was thrilled about sharing it on his Facebook page. He even said he doubted his own ability when he was offered an opportunity to sing.

In the video on the making of the song, he explains why he considered singing now, after 30 happy years spent as an actor. He gave it a thought until he heard the song’s tune and was hooked by it. That’s when he decided to sing it anyway. Even though it’s his first attempt at singing, the catchy number with funky lyrics has been very well received since his nephew Rana Daggubati released it on Monday.

Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film features Venkatesh in the role of a former boxing coach with serious attitude problems. Ritika Singh, who was part of the original, reprises her own role of a fish vendor turned boxing champion.
