Kriti disagrees with Rishi’s rant about actors not attending Vinod Khanna’s funeral

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor went on a twitter rant lashing out at young actors for not attending Vinod Khanna’s funeral, who died on April 27 after battling bladder cancer. In his angry tweets, Kapoor expressed his disgust at how no one from the present generation turned up at the funeral [except actors Abhishek Bachchan and Randeep Hooda], while most of them were spotted at actor Priyanka Chopra’s party the previous night.

Kriti was last seen in filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale (2015), which also starred late Vinod Khanna playing the role of Varun Dhawan and Shah Rukh Khan’s father. The 26-year-old doesn’t feel that the present crop of actors don’t respect the veterans in the industry. Kriti, further shares that she’s rather close to many senior actors and so are her colleagues. “I would like to believe it was [no show at Khanna’s funeral] situational. I don’t think the present generation is less attached. I personally am emotional about people who I know and I am around,” she told us.

Ask her what could probably be the reason why many young actors did not turn up for the funeral, despite some of them having worked with Khanna, Kriti says that it was an individual decision. “There can be individual reasons for people who knew Vinod Khanna and worked with him, but still were not there [at the funeral]. There might be people who were not in Mumbai or were travelling. I can’t comment on someone as to why they didn’t turn up,” adds Kriti.

Although her Dilwale co-actor Shah Rukh Khan did attend the late actor’s prayer meet, which was held on May 3, actor Varun Dhawan, who played the role of Khanna’s son in the film was nowhere to be seen. Reports suggest that Varun is shooting for his film Judwaa 2 in London, and that’s why he was unable to attend. Other celebrities who attended the prayer meet included Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek bachchan, Aishwarya Rai bachchan, Aamir Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Arbaaz Khan, Alia Bhatt and Farhan Akhtar.

Meanwhile, Kriti is gearing up for her film Raabta alongside actor Sushant Singh Rajput. “We have just started promoting, as the release is still a month away. We will pace up slowly and promotions have become such an important part of films. It’s always hectic, but fun at the same time,” says Kriti.
