Lagaan (2001) actor Gracy Singh is clear that she won’t take up a Bollywood film just for the sake of working on the big screen again or to make a comeback in Hindi cinema. Though Gracy has been doing regional films, it’s been a while since she took up a good project in Bollywood. “I keep listening to scripts for new films but I will only take up something when I am completely convinced that I can do justice to the role,” says Gracy, who has acted in films such as Munnabhai M.B.B.S. (2004) and Muskaan (2004).

The 36-year-old actor says that she wanted to take up a show on television as she is really impressed with the reach of the medium. “I feel that a lot of people can connect with the shows on small screen. Audiences from all over can relate to the characters that become so popular through daily soaps,” says Gracy, who is currently part of a mythological television show Santoshi Maa.

Ask her what kind of role she would want to take up on small screen, and Gracy says, “Firstly, the role has to be meaningful and the character must be powerful. I want to work with creative people, so let’s see what comes along. Right now, I’m getting a great response for my devotional character in the show. It is challenging but fulfilling as well.”

Besides her TV show, her live dance performances and stage shows also keep her busy. “Apart from acting, I am focussing on my dance too. I have learnt three classical dance styles and along with my troupe, we create dance dramas,” says Gracy.
